Surface Soil Moisture 30 m

Lobelia Earth — version 1.0 (2024)

Description

This dataset quantifies soil moisture content (m³/m³) at 30 m spatial resolution. Data has global coverage and approximately 10 day temporal resolution, available from 2016 onwards.

Usage notes

New time points are delivered near real-time. Actual temporal resolution varies from 8-16 days depending on satellite pass rate and cloud cover. Linear spatial artefacts can occur due to downscaling of some input data sources to 30 m. Values may be unreliable in areas with dense vegetation. The transformation feature should be used to align pixel grids between dates.

Variables

soil_moisture

TypeNumberUnitsm³/m³

Description

The total amount of water in the soil at ~ 5 cm depth in each pixel, calculated by downscaling SMAP and/or SMOS satellite data using temperature, vegetation, and elevation datasets.

Usage notes

Temporal resolution is 8-16 days depending on AOI latitude and cloud cover.

Pricing

This dataset adds a new time point every 8-16 days. A data request returns the full archive up to the most recent time point and creates a one-year subscription to future time points. Data acquisition costs are per hectare:
