World Database of Key Biodiversity Areas
Description
This vector dataset contains locations, geometries, and properties of Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs). Access is licensed by the Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT).
528f54b8…Usage notes
The dataset is updated 2-3 times per year. KBAs without boundaries are given a 1 km circular boundary around their point location. Data requests return all KBAs that intersect a submitted AOI.
Variables
site_record_id
Description
KBA unique identifier.
country
Description
Country or Territory KBA is located.
Usage notes
KBAs spanning borders include multiple country values separated by a ;.
country_iso3
Description
Three character ISO-3166 code for country.
Usage notes
KBAs spanning borders include multiple country iso3 values separated by a ;.
native_name
Description
KBA name in native language.
international_name
Description
KBA name in English.
aze_status
Description
Indicates whether or not a KBA is an Alliance for Zero Extinction (AZE) site.
site_area
Description
Reported size of a KBA.
Usage notes
Accuracy varies depending on local data availability and mapping precision.
geojson
Description
KBA as a geoJSON polygon (boundary) or point (centroid).
Usage notes
In cases where a KBA is a point, intersection with the submitted AOI is determined using a 1 km circular boundary around its location. Accuracy varies depending on local data availability and mapping precision.
Pricing
This dataset is one of three IBAT core datasets, which are licensed jointly. By purchasing this dataset, the joint licence allows you to access the latest version of all IBAT core datasets for the same AOI within 12 months at no additional cost.
IBAT core datasets include: IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, World Database of Key Biodiversity Areas, World Database on Protected and Conserved Areas.
The joint licence has two options.
