Summary

Description This dataset classifies the land cover class present on the land surface at 10 m spatial resolution. Spatial coverage is national across 45 tropical countries for 2020 and 2024, with annual updates. Pixels are assigned one of 8+ land cover classes, depending on country.
Usage notes New time points are delivered in February for the previous year. Spatial coverage is currently available for 45 tropical countries and will expand into new countries. This dataset is complementary to the Land Cover 20 m / 25 m dataset from the same provider. Use of this dataset for EUDR compliance must be made through the ICE CoT system.

Variables

land_cover_class

Description The index of the predicted land cover class. Predictions are made using machine learning models trained to predict expert annotated polygons from multiple satellite data sources.
Usage notes Annotation polygons and model predictions are designed to achieve high accuracy over challenging land cover transitions (e.g. tree crops and natural forest). The dataset employs a minimum of 8 land cover classes, with additional classes (e.g. dense forest, open forest) also being employed for some countries.
Countries Belize, Benin, Bolivia, Brazil (most; under development), Brunei, Burundi, Cameroon, Colombia, Costa Rica, Democratic Republic of Congo, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guatemala, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Ivory Coast (most), Kenya, Laos, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico (most), Nicaragua, Nigeria, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Suriname, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Uruguay (most), Venezuela and Vietnam.
