# Soil Water Content 20 m

Planet — version 1.0

## Description

This dataset quantifies soil water content (m³/m³) at 20 m spatial resolution. Data has global coverage and sub-weekly resolution, available from 2018 onwards.

## Summary

- **ID:** 0dfb63a2-fddd-40f5-82d6-220f56023e26
- **Type:** Raster
- **CRS:** EPSG:4326
- **Spatial coverage:** Global
- **Spatial resolution:** 20 m
- **Temporal coverage:** 2018+
- **Temporal resolution:** Sub-weekly

## Usage notes

New time points are delivered near real-time. This dataset is intended for agricultural use cases. Actual temporal resolution varies depending on satellite pass rate. Data is downscaled to 20 m spatial resolution to reduce signal mixing between fields. For best results, an area of interest (AOI) should be a single field of interest. Values may be unreliable in urban areas, near dynamic water bodies, and on slopes > 20°.

## Variables

### value
- **Type:** uint16
- **Units:** m³/m³
- **NoData:** 65535
Total amount of water in the soil, as measured using the L-band (1.4 GHz) of the SMAP satellite combined with the C-band (6.9 GHz) and X-band (10.7 GHz) of the AMSR-2 satellite instrument. The combination of these bands is intended for agricultural use cases with an overall sensing depth of ~5 cm.

## Pricing

This dataset adds a new time point every sub-weekly. A new subscription returns the full archive up to the most recent time point and creates a one-year subscription to future time points. Data acquisition costs are per hectare:

| Volume | Price |
| --- | --- |
| Any | $1.50 / ha |
