## Description

This dataset contains global administrative boundaries of over 200 countries and territories at the municipality level (ADM2). Boundary information is sourced from within-country authorities whenever possible, with other information sources including public archives, digitised map documents, and community contributors.

## Usage notes

For country-level (ADM0) and district-level (ADM1) boundaries, see geoBoundaries Comprehensive Global Administrative Zones Countries and Districts datasets. Boundaries are terrestrial, so exclude maritime boundaries and exclusive economic zones. Disputed areas have been removed and replaced with standard polygons following the US Department of State definitions. Boundaries are validated by automated scripts and a minimum of two independent practitioners, but may differ from other datasets, particularly in disputed regions.
